I’ve been looking at many different types and brands, and am just looking for opinions from those with more backpacking experience. I’ve always enjoyed hiking and camping, but am just getting into more serious backpacking in wilderness areas and need to start outfitting myself with the appropriate gear.
In terms of privacy and size of the sites?

My friends and I love to go wilderness camping (no tents, no food, just a machete, a knife and a book of matches) but we cant really do this at most conventional parks. So we need to find a place where there are no fire pits, plug ins, RVs or bathrooms.
Ideally we want a heavily wooded area to hike into with some kind of water source nearby. Is there a place like this within 3 hours of the Kansas City area?
Thanks in advance,
Noah
I’m contemplating a back-country camping trip (hike in, tent camp) overnight in Indian Peaks Wilderness near Granby, CO. Probably will start around Lake Granby. Is this a super-crowded area? How much of a hassle is the permit? Where is the best place to get a permit? And finally– Any suggested camp sites?

My friends and I are planning a camping trip. We would like to go somwhere in Indiana where we can put up a tent and really enjoy nature in the wild with no modern appliances. Does anyone recommend a place? state park? somewhere in Indiana. Where we could just put a tent up out in the a very wooded area? Thanks so much ^.^
