All in all it’s hard to imagine anywhere more scenic, isolated and downright beautiful as fishing in the state of Alaska. Alaska can be sportsman’s paradise.
Consider Alaska’s full variety of game fish and fishing. Chinook salmon (referred to locally as King Salmon), Coho Salmon, Sockeye Salmon. Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat trout, Dolly Varden, Arctic Char, Grayling, Northern Pike. Whitefish, Oconnu (locally referred to as Sheefish), White Halibut fish and so on. On top of that you may be able to share the fishing run with a couple of nice friendly Grizzly bears as companions and Alaska friends.
In fact so vast and varied are Alaska’s natural supplies and stores of fish and game that most anglers and hunters have trouble even conceiving fully of the variety and volumes available to them.
First of all you had better get used to the idea that the best fishing can mainly only be reached by air. If flying terrifies you – arrange a fishing or hunting trip somewhere else. Noted Lake Manitoba Narrows outfitter Jadran Transcona notes that in actuality few of Alaska’s great fishing spots can be reached by car, even hardy military style four wheel drive authentic Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV’s). The “bush pilot” is king – an often eccentric king and fellow / darling at that. Best not to make comments on the plane or have concerns about apparent lack of maintenance compared to big city operations. Yet you will come to appreciate how skilled and dependable these fine pilots – the bush pilots are.
If there is one thing about Alaska fishing that surprises and even shocks most Alaska bound sportsmen it’s not the variety and sized of the fish and game – it’s the abundance, size and ferocity of the state’s mosquitoes and blackflies. Come prepared with good quantities of proper repellants and suitable protective clothing. Another surprise too many serious anglers is the great fluctuation that can occur in temperatures in any given body of water. Temperatures can fluctuate as much as 50 degrees Fahrenheit in a 12 hour time period. You can easily start the day bundled up like a polar bear in the morning and yet be sweltering as if you were in the tropics by mid afternoon.
If there is one thing that fisherman experienced in the ways and means of Alaska report is that as a fisherman you will have to get used to the idea that there is no one “best place or spot” to fish. It all depends and varies what time of year, where and what your budget or budgets are. Where you decide to go fishing will depend on where you want to go, what you want to fish, and how much you are willing to spend overall.
In general the nest months to visit Alaska on a fishing expedition are from May through October/ July and August generally are the warmest months, but warm temperatures of course are relative. In general it can be said that it is best to bring your own gear. In particular bring a good supply of flies, steamers, lures, spoons, spinners plus whatever you fancy. There are well stocked sporting good stores in the cities and bigger towns, but out in the bush and smaller towns it’s more chancy.
Next bring along hip waders, a pair of rugged comfortable hiking boots, rain gear, sunglasses, headwear, long johns, heavy duty socks, sweaters, a warm winter jacket if need be along with a pair of warm winter gloves, insect repellent of course (a number of different types and brands to test out might be a wise idea), as well as anything else you might need or think of. It never hurts to be prepared.
One final note – Don’t wander out on your own either on foot or by boat. Alaska is both a place of beauty and as well a most rugged landscape and climate that you should respect well. The experience and help of a good experienced outfitter or guide can never be minimized or not appreciated.
Lastly in the end it can be said and remembered that a marginal day spent fishing or hunting is better than the best day ever back at work in the office.

Compared to usual vacations, camping is surely a lot less expensive. You would not have to spend on hotel accommodations, airfare, and ticket admissions to attractions. Instead, you only have to invest on reliable gear and equipment that you would be able to use for a long time. Moreover, if you want to save money further, you can follow these practical tips on how to cut down the costs when going on this kind of trip. Avoid Peak Season and WeekendsLike hotels and airfare expenses, prices on campsites tend to shoot up high during peak season. If you want to save money, you should consider going during off-peak season like May or September. Avoid summer months and spring break, as this is when campsites are packed. Apart from that, choose to camp during weekdays and not weekends. Not only would this strategy minimize expenses, it will also help you avoid crowds. The trip would be much more relaxing if the campground is not packed with people. Choose Nearby Cheap CampsitesSurf the Internet to find campgrounds located around your area that offer the cheapest price. These campsites will not require you to spend much on gas because you do not have to go on a long drive. Be careful when making your choice. Cheaper is not always better. Consider the amenities offered by the campsite when making a choice. For example, if you have kids with you, it would not be a good idea to go for an overly cheap campground that does not have clean drinking water or bathroom provisions. Now, if you are not bringing the kids with you and you have your own water purifying system, a cheap site with no amenities whatsoever may be a good choice. Go Tent CampingInstead of going RV camping, it would be more practical to do tent camping. An RV would cost more fuel than a regular car. With the hike in gas prices these days, going on a tent camping trip would certainly save you a lot of money. Apart from that, RV campsites are also more expensive than tent sites because of the additional amenities provided such as electrical and water hook-ups. Borrow Camping FurnitureThe only expensive aspect of camping is buying gear and equipment such as tents, sleeping bags, and outdoor furniture. If you were not planning to make camping a regular activity for you and your family, borrowing these things would be the sensible move. However, if you want to do this kind of trip more often, you would want to invest on high quality gear that will last a long time and at the same time, will not make your pockets weep. How is that possible? Buy online! The online market gives you access to some of the most affordable camping equipment and supplies that the traditional market will not give you. Just make sure that you buy from a reliable store and that you choose only reputable brands so you don’t have anything to worry about in terms of quality and durability. Camping is one of the most inexpensive ways to go on a vacation. With these practical tips, you can save even more.

Today a 12v air compressor can prove extremely useful in a number of different situations. But generally people who like outdoor activities such as off roading and camping will find this particular piece of equipment extremely useful. Certainly for those who enjoy camping such equipment can prove useful in getting air beds inflated in a matter of seconds rather than minutes.

Certainly before the introduction of 12v air compressors if you took inflatable beds with you when camping then you had a number of options available to you in getting them blown up. First of you could take them with you already inflated, but this meant space in your vehicle being taken up. Plus carrying them proved awkward. The other options were to carry with you a small foot pump or the kind of pump you would use to inflate bicycle tyres. Both of these are effective but of course it would take at least 1/2 hour to an hour to get sufficient amounts of air into them.

Where as when it comes to the 12v air compressors now available it is simply a case of plugging them into the vehicles cigarette lighter and turning them on. However when inflating any kind of air beds there are certain things you need to take into consideration before you do so. Below we offer some tips for blowing up air beds using this type of equipment that you may find useful.

Tip 1 – Before you actually do inflate air beds using an air compressor look to see what method the manufacturer of it actually recommends. Some will recommend that you do so manually, whilst others recommend use of a pump. If you use a pump on those where manual inflation is recommended you are likely to cause damage to the material and so in a matter of time it may begin to come apart.

Tip 2 – When it comes to inflating your air with a 12v air compressor you must first insert the end of it into the inflation valve on the air bed. Make sure that when you turn the pump on you have hold of the end of the hose from it still in the valve.

Tip 3 – As you inflate the air bed you should occasionally turn it off to check how much air the bed contains. Remember you want it inflated sufficiently that it not only feels comfortable to lie on but will hold your weight as well. As soon as you feel that the bed has been inflated sufficiently then quickly remove the nozzle of the pump from the air beds inflation valve and place the cover of it immediately. This will help to prevent some air not all of it from escaping.

Tip 4 – It is important that when it comes to buying a 12v air compressor you look to see what level of maximum pressure it can achieve. Ideally if you are looking to take yours when you go camping then it should be able to work up to a level of 50psi. This will not only ensure that it is capable of inflating air beds but also your vehicles tyres.

Want to find the perfect spot for setting up camp?  Here are a few great ideas to help you find a good spot to set up your camping tents.

You want to start off by finding level ground.   No one wants to sleep on an uneven surface!  It’s always a good idea to find this flat spot relatively high up and not too close to trees.   The tree roots would not be a good place to lie on.   Make sure there are no large stones either.

It’s a good idea to make sure the area you pick does not show signs of any water erosion.   The last thing you want is to have a flash flood during a large rainstorm come rushing through your tent at night.

One of the most important things to do when picking out a camping site is to look up above you and make sure you see a lot of blue sky!  The last thing you want is to wake up in the middle of the night with a downed tree or even large tree limbs crashing through your tent.  Believe me I know!  The first time I went camping with my family we set up camp underneath a tree and during the night there was a bit of a wind storm which knocked down some branches.   Thank goodness the branches were not huge.   This could have been a real problem.

So please follow all of these steps and ensure yourself a great time in the outdoors!

Camping tips for women for receiving the most out of the camping experience. Do you connect camping with plagues of insects, tossing and rotating all night on the hard ground inside your tent, and a general lack of civilized facilities? If you say “yes”, then you’ll probably never fall in the love with camping. However, there are ways of making the knowledge more enjoyable. Bring some vital equipmentA strong, flexible and rain-proof tent is only the starting point of essential camping gear. Don’t even think about resting on the hard ground! Take some more time to check out the different kinds of air mattresses existing at camping shops. Come to a decision in how much you’re willing to spend, and then invest in the luxurious model, or grab the budget version – whichever you decide, an air mattress of any kind will really improve your excellence of life over the camping weekend. Let’s face it, it’s impossible to enjoy yourself when you’re suffering from sleep deprivation. Get a good sleeping bag also bring a pillow, and one more blanket than you’d anticipate needing. Insect repellent and sun block are also essential items. And seal all perishable food in airtight containers to protect it from creepy crawlies. Don’t forget drinking water supplies, long-life milk, canned food, can opener, and tea and coffee – you don’t need to add caffeine withdrawal to your camping experience. Toilet paper is also a must! Tend to your basic comfort needs, or you’ll find it impossible to enjoy the weekend. Importance of personal hygieneHow will you survive going without took bath for 2 nights? Try to bring extra deodorant, a washcloth, toothpaste and brush; wipe off cleanser, and plenty of tissues etc. A cake of hard soap is also a good idea: it’s difficult to keep soap dry when you’re camping, and mushy soap soon disintegrates into a soggy mess. Pack an extra bottle of water for grooming urgent situations, and you can be sure that you can at least brush your teeth and splatter your face with fresh water, wherever you may find physically. If you don’t need it to wash with, you can always drink it. If your hair is past shoulder length, try to keep it tied back, as you’ll be hard-pressed to keep it looking glossy, or to style it. There will be no outlets for hairdryers or electric razors, so make sure you’ve covered any potentially uncomfortable personal grooming issues before you go – waxing may be the best way of banishing constant leg stubble over the weekend. Keep makeup to a minimum – some colored moisturizer or light foundation and colored lip gloss are quick and easy to apply and remove at the end of the day. You won’t look overcooked, but you also won’t be forced to sport a ‘nude’ face. Essential attitudeIf you are not a usual camper, it’s predictable that your endurance will be tried during the course of the weekend. You won’t be as comfy as you would be if you were home in your own bed or deep in a lavender-scented fizz bath. But keep in mind: if you hadn’t gone camping, you would never have witnessed that wonderful sunset, or been plagued by the natural freshness of a pine forest first thing in the morning. Camping is definitely not everyone’s favorite free time activity. But having the right gear, being prepared for some low-maintenance loveliness essentials, and adjusting your manner to your new environment can really help you to enjoy the escape from your daily life routine. A little time spent soothing in nature can see you return recharged and renewed to your everyday life.
