For my 60th birthday I intend to take a 3 day trip canoe camping down river. There has been little current lately so I have to paddle the whole way. I use a one man canoe 11 foot long so space and weight are important with camping gear. I am trying to plan for camp sites, time to recover each day and somewhere to be picked-up.

Third Kern River drowning victim identified
Cathy Perfect/Kern Valley Sun And the drownings continue. On Sunday, at approximately 12:45 p.m., first responders were dispatched to a report of a body floating face down sighted in the Kern River. Family members said they last saw Amilcar Guardado, 37, of Los Angeles, near the Keyesville north campground.
