During one of the bigger rainfalls we were at our tents. We were so lucky for that :)

Anticipating any rain, I want to be able to shield the rain if possible. The tents are new and waterproof, but haven’t used them in rain yet to know for sure and I don’t want to use my vacation as the test.

McClory: The fish don’t worry about the rain
Summer will be officially here next Tuesday, and as usual, I still wonder what happened to spring. Living here in New England I have finally come to the realization that we do not have spring. So if you want to experience spring you have to travel south to Virginia or one of the Carolinas.

On February 5, 2011, Whiskeyfox and JJ went car camping at O’leno State Park in Florida. Located along the banks of the scenic Santa Fe River, a tributary of the Suwannee River, the park features sinkholes, hardwood hammocks, river swamps, and sandhills. As the river courses through the park, it disappears underground and reemerges over three miles away in the River Rise State Preserve. One of Florida’s first state parks, O’Leno was first developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The suspension bridge built by the CCC still spans the river.

Not enough rain to help douse Southeast Georgia fires
The fires in and near the Okefenokee Swamp have burned about a quarter of a million acres with no signs that the weather will provide much help, officials said.The oldest of the fires, the Honey Prairie Fire that lightning started April 28, is now 203,581 acres, having picked up more than 7,000 acres in a day.
