Next month I’m going hiking/camping with a friend I’ve known almost 8 months – Should we tent share?
We’re both single (her more recently within the last couple months) and we’re going to be talking next week about what gear we want to take with us to make sure we have everything we need and not take more than we have to. I was debating if I should suggest we tent share – with other friends I’ve gone camping with the subject has always been broached by them. I feel it could just sound wrong coming from a guy asking a girl if we should tent share and give a bad/misrepresented impression of what is on my mind.
We’re totally platonic before anyone suggests otherwise and even if hell froze over, she’d still be out of my league so from day one I’ve never imagined any other possible level of friendship.
There is small hill from our yard to our neighbor’s yard in the line of pine trees that divide our properties. On his side there is black gunk accumulating, not sure if it sludge or what it’s from. It is fairly close to our septic fields. Does this sound like there is probably something is wrong with our septic fields?
Our houses are on “wet lands” so it is often damp in parts of the field areas but it has been raining a lot and their is a brook and wetlands as part of this property right behind it.
The house was built in 1971 and they installed a complete new system (tank AND fields) in 1995, so the entire system is only 14 years old. Most of the houses in the area still have their original tank and fields. We pumped the septic in the Spring and we do it approximately every 3-4 years. We are not having any problems of backing up in the house or anything like that.
Does anyone know what else it could be, or if it is most probably the fields what could be wrong and how much remediation would be?
I went over there and can’t smell anything. The neighbor claims that it smells when it’s very hot. It doesn’t smell anywhere on our property.
Also, if it is due to our fields can the town come in and rope off our yard? Will the health dept fine us if they find something wrong or “make” us do something immediately even if we don’t have the money to fix it right now?
What would be the best course of action of find out what it is?
I am in kentucky I have found pine tea, cattail shoots, maple sap, dandelions , black Berry’s, mulberry’s and acorns what next?

the direction the fighter jets came from the closest possible military base is over 3oo miles away. the chinook helicopter came from a different area all together and went a different direction. we never hardly ever see military aircraft let alone two days in a row. never happened here that i know of. so i was just wondering if it was a huge coincidence or if there was something up. when i first seen the jets they were 3 of em close together in a diagonal as they flew over my house very loudly. then a few min later they had turned around and quit a bit of distance between each one as they headed back to the direction they came from. can anyone tell me what they are doing?? pretty sure nothing is up just curious.
