i was going to do a photo but had the camera in video mode so I just kept going. It snowed during the night, I had to keep banging on the side of the tent to shake it off. With all that going on it seemed like a lot of snow so I estimated 3 or 4 inches. It turned out to be only about 2 inches. My rain fly didn’t get fit just right so I got some snow inside the tent. About 1:00 AM I woke up and discovered my sleeping bag was soaking wet. I was very afraid I was in for a clod night but I was warm and dry inside–good thing. By the way, an empty pop bottle is a really handy thing to have on a winter tent-out. It allows you to skip a chilly 3:00AM trip outside. I didn’t even have to get out of my sleeping bag–nice!
I don’t have a sleeping pad for a winter camp but I have two simple summer sleeping bags and I’m thinking of simply sandwiching in a sheet of Mylar to ceate some insulation from the ground. Do you think this would work well?
don’t have a sleeping pad for a winter camp but I have two simple summer sleeping bags and I’m thinking of simply sandwiching in a sheet of Mylar to ceate some insulation from the ground. Do you think this would work well? I should add that I will also be using another military bag on top of this and I will be in a tent. This is just for a sleeping pad for my son and I.
Going camping in the desert. Day temperatures are in the 90’s and night temperatures are in the 50’s. My idea is to put a tarp over the tent when the sun sets to keep the heat in. Not using sleeping bags either, using Thermarest and blankets. Please do not respond with “use a sleeping bag” b/c this is not an option. We are flying to camp and will be renting a car, will not be taking sleeping bags as they take up too much room.
North Face Mountain 25 Tent and a lot of noise. Nice and “cold” we were on the shore of a neat little lake. Really had a good time.
Sleeping System Waterproof Storage Stuff Sack.
is it lack of water or too much mulch?
Thank you all for answering my question about the 2nd-hand smoke. I have one more question about smoking.
I left my camping-used sleeping bag inside my roommate’s closet. He smokes inside his closet for more than half year now. I almost forgot about my sleeping bag until now that I’m planning to go on a camping trip in the end of May.
I read somewhere before that 2nd-hand smoke is defintely toxic to our health at that moment of smoking. But more, the smoke will stay inside the fibers and textures such as clothes, walls, houshold items etc.
Now I’m worried that my sleeping bag is “damaged” forever by my roommate’s smoking. But, if I air out my sleeping bag in a “clean” environmnet for a period of time, will I be safe? Does anyone know?
