Base camping means that you’re camping on campgrounds where you don’t have to hike to reach it. It’s a good way to camp especially if you’re taking children with you. Before you go camping you first need to have a family camping tent. To choose a family tent you first need to know the season or time of the year you’re planning to go camping and what the conditions are. Most family tents are three season tents which do well in mild weather in spring, summer and fall but may not be suitable in winter. If you’re like most people who camp in the three seasons other than winter, then a 3 season tent would definitely be good enough. If instead you like to camp in winter or would like to try camping in winter, a 3 season tent might still keep you warm and dry but if you don’t want to risk it then go for 4 season tents or a convertible tent. A convertible tent can be converted from a 4-season tent to a 3-season tent and vice versa. They’re heavier than 3-season tents but lighter than 4-season tents. They have removable parts that you can leave at home when it’s warm to reduce the weight. The next step to choosing a family tent is to decide on how many people will sleep in the tent. You can use the person rating as a guideline but be aware that those ratings are meant for adult corpses rather than people. We recommend that you choose a tent that has a rating of two more people than you expect to sleep in it. Then you want to consider the features of the tent. A vestibule is useful for storing wet and dirty gear. In bad weather and with good ventilation you can even use your camp stove to cook inside a vestibule. Room dividers are great for sleeping your children separately if you want to. Consider other features as well that make the tent more convenient for the family. Ventilation is not only important in the vestibule if you intend to cook in it but it’s also important for the whole tent. It will help you keep cool and comfortable in hot weather and prevents condensation to keep you dry in cold weather. A rainfly and mesh windows can really help with ventilation. You can now decide on the style of family tent. Family tents are mainly either cabin tents or dome tents. Cabin tents have more headroom than dome tents but dome tents have a stronger structure and sheds rain and wind better. Ease is of set up is a good thing to consider when choosing a family tent. It used to be that dome tents are easier to set up than cabin tents but now there are cabin tents that can be easily set up in less than a minute. If the tent is easy to set up, you have more time to enjoy with your family.

Good food and camping should go together. If you want to have fun with your family outdoors, it would be a good idea for you to take a long a cast iron camp stove where you can cook your family’s favorite food. Yes, a cast iron camp stove is a bit heavier compared to other types of camp stoves but the thing is that cooking on a cast iron camp stove is more convenient than using one of those portable camp stoves that do not really give you enough room to cook your food on. Will it not be so inconvenient to bring along a cast iron camp stove when you go camping in the woods? Inconvenience is a relative thing. If you really want to serve good food to your family, you can always find a way to bring along with you your favorite cast iron camp stove. To help you get everything organized, for more details visit to www. cajuns-recipes. com here are some tips for you. Instead of hiking to the woods and carrying a lot of heavy loads on your back, you better rent a recreational vehicle (RV) camper. The good thing about using an RV camper is that your kids will have comfortable beds to sleep in while you will have a functional kitchen where you can prepare delicious food for the whole family. In fact, some RVs are already equipped with cast iron camp stoves so you need not bring your own stove. When it comes to safety, for more details visit to www. cooking-groundbeef. com the RV is a better choice. Sleeping inside the RV is a lot safer especially if you have small kids with you. You can always lock the door of the camper at night to keep out unwanted visitors like small animals and insects. If you prefer to live in a tent instead of the RV, you should buy a small cast iron camp stove for your camping trip. No, you do not need that big Dutch cast iron stove when you go camping in the wilds with your whole family. A small camp stove with two burners will do nicely. You don’t really have to produce some culinary wonders while you are in the wild so a two burner stove should be alright. When packing your gears, put the camp stove in a separate pack. This way, it will be easier for you to ask someone else to carry the stove in case your back starts giving you the signal to lighten your load a little. Outdoor appliances or camping stoves range form a variety of products such as propane grills to camp fire bread toasters. Outdoor and camping grills have many uses and sizes that have a correlation to the activity of the users. The double burner propane stove/range can be used by the everyday camper or outdoors person. Whereas, the single burner camp stove is much smaller and more versatile, suitable for the more rigorous outdoors person on the go. Outdoor appliances help create an easier and more enjoyable experience for those taking an adventure into the outdoors.

The greatest cost when you first go camping is buying the tent. This is the most important piece of camping equipment. If there are two of you a 3 man tent is an excellent size since you’ll have more space for a lot of your other supplies as well as clothes. Another good size tent is the 6 person tent, which will typically have 3 separate compartments. This is ideal for a family group of four because the parents can sleep in one inner compartment and each one of the kids have a distinct inner compartment of their own without being too much away from their parents. When you have a huge family unit or party of people going on a trip together, then big tents with lots of individual areas can be purchased. You can get 10, 12 and 14 man tents, and the big tents may have five to seven chambers.
One of the latest designs in tents is the tunnel tent as suggested by its name is shaped like a tunnel with the entrance either in the end or in the middle. The bigger tunnel tents have separate tunnels off from the primary tunnel which can be individual rooms. Normally 3 man, 4 man and 6 man tunnel tents have the entrance on one side and have an area off both sides and opposite the entrance for the 6 man tent. Greater volume tunnel tents including 8,10 and 12 man tents have smaller tunnels or compartments off the main tunnel. A different style is the dome tent which is in a dome shape of different sizes with the dome separated into compartments. A good brand of dome tent is Wenzel tents.
Cabin tents have always been a popular family tent because they were the earliest kind of tent to possess separate chambers plus a living/dining space. The cabin tent has a main entrance way that leads right into a living area and is then sub-divided into separate chambers with dividers. Cabin tents are usually a six person tent at least but can go right up to 12 to 14 person tents for larger families or parties.

In the modern family entertainment consists of glowing screens. The computer, video games, cell phones, and television are the things that entertain our families. These are all great technologies, but most of them are solitary activities. Game nights have always been a go to family get together, but why not do something special? A family camping vacation could be just what you need. Spending time together in a tent out in the middle of the woods can be a lot of fun. Plus, your kid’s cell phone won’t get reception, so you’ll get uninterrupted conversation.
Start your family camping vacation by picking the right place to go. National forests and parks will often have areas reserved for camping. Call ahead and ask where to go and how much it will cost. When you get there the attendant will usually give you a map to the reserved spot to put your tent. National forests and parks have hiking trails that you can take your family on during your vacation. There are also sometimes visitor centers that give have fun and informative displays about the park. These forests parks are also easy to find, because they have brochures at tourist places and sometimes sporting goods stores.
Packing all of the right equipment and supplies will ensure more time to have fun. Make sure everyone has their own pack with extra clothes and toiletries. There should be a sealable container filled with non perishable food. Pick out a camping tent that will be big enough to fit all your sleeping bags and/or air mattresses. Camping stores offer tent sizes that are perfect for family camping vacations. If you don’t get cell phone reception, maybe it would be wise to pack a 2-way radio with your first aid supplies.
Entertainment can be just as easily found on a family camping vacation as it is at home. Bring a couple of your family’s favorite board games. You can play them inside your cool tent when it gets too hot outside. There are also several classic camping games you can play. Frisbees and horse shoes are great day time sports. At night there is always story telling around the camp fire. You can also have a contest to see who can find the most constellations. With some s’mores and good music, you know you will be sure to have a safe, fun and memorable weekend vacation.

With the skyrocketing prices of gas and food, many families simply cannot afford to hop on a plane and head to an exotic locale for their yearly family vacation anymore. However, don’t let the economic downturn ruin your plans to have a family vacation this year. One of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to have a family vacation on a budget is to go camping. There are a variety of campgrounds across the US so you don’t have to go very far to enjoy a unique camping adventure. Because you won’t have to travel a long way, you will save on gas and thus help to preserve our environment. For an eco-friendly vacation that is equally friendly on your pocket book, go camping for your next family vacation. Whether you want to head to a campground in an RV, stay in a cabin, or pitch a tent, there are numerous activities you and your family can enjoy in the wild. Activities Families Can Enjoy on a Camping TripWhen you go camping there are activities appropriate for family members of all ages. Some common activities associated with camping include: golfing, hunting, fishing, canoeing, swimming, kayaking, biking, river rafting, hiking, caving, and bathing in hot springs. Many campgrounds also have activities especially for children. Whether you want to relax and read a book by the waterside or enjoy adventurous activities and get some exercise, you’ll find plenty of activities to keep you entertained on a camping trip. Also, don’t forget the classic camping activities such as telling stories around the campfire and making s’mores. Accommodation OptionsIf you’d like to enjoy the conveniences you have back at home on your camping trip, consider renting a cabin or traveling in an RV. Approximately seven million Americans now own RVs, making them a popular vacation option. Camping out in an RV or staying in a cabin is certainly a more comfortable option but if you are on a tight budget, consider pitching a tent. All you need to go tent camping are tents, sleeping bags, and other basic supplies. If you have never been tent camping and you have young children, consider trying it out for a night in your own backyard first to get everyone used to it. Food on a Camping TripWhen you go camping, one of the areas you save the most money in is food. You typically won’t spend any more money than you would if you stayed at home. If you have an RV you can prepare all of your food in its kitchenette but if you are traveling by car, you may need to take a camping stove and other supplies with you, depending on what facilities are available at your campground. It’s a good idea to take all of the food you think you’ll need so you don’t have to spend your vacation at the super market. Plus there may not be much available near your campground. In conclusion, it’s possible to have a fun-filled family vacation without breaking the bank. There’s no need to travel halfway across the world to give your family a vacation to remember when you can take a local camping trip and have a blast. Go to a campground close to natural attractions so you can enjoy all that nature has to offer while saving money on food, activities, and accommodations.

These days the first thing that gets cut from many budgets are any trips you may have planned. These are important though if you want to bond as a group and talk without everyone looking at one screen (television, computer, cell phone. . . ) or another. For bonding and clearing your head there isn’t much better than getting away, even if just for a few days. How can you do it with such a tight budget though? Consider camping as an affordable family vacation option.
You do need some things, but many of them you may already have and the rest can be found in a variety of price ranges, so no matter how tight the budget is you can hopefully find room for these things, the gas to get somewhere (even if it’s just twenty minutes out of town), and camp site fees.
A first aid kit on hand will stop any outdoors trip from going bad quickly. If you have some bandages and something to clean any wounds with than getting a cut isn’t really such a big deal, but without it a small cut can ruin the trip.
Depending on where you go a camping stove may be essential, as well as a water purifier. Check and see if clean water and something to cook on is available where you hope to camp–you may just need to bring charcoal for a provided grill at your site.
Some entertainment plans are key to a successful, peaceful, camping trip with the family. Consider board games, hikes, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, mountain biking, music, books or comedy on tape, or anything else you can imagine doing as a group in the woods.
You’ll need some kind of sleeping arrangements, including a tent, sleeping bag, and air mattress. Having comfortable sleeping arrangements is key to keeping everyone in a good mood and ready and willing to go out and do things the next day.
