I’m looking to go on an extended camping trip alone. This time I’ll be going to a boy scout camp during the off season (no kids). I want to pack a handgun to protect myself against would-be tent intruders (bears/thugs), and also to give myself some peace of mind while realizing I’m in the woods all alone in the dark (also part of the fun). Any advise on how to do this without having a concealed carry license? I want to pack the gun in my huge expedition backpack and simply have access to it at night. I don’t want to cause commotion by holstering it on my hip like John Wayne.
I also want to know about a Chinook, and a C-17, and an AH-6
im going to asia, can i bring soap (hard) shampoo (liquid) etc onto the check in? also camping gear like sleeping bags, tents etc?
I’m going to be flying to Pennsylvania to go as staff at a summer camp. It’ll be my first time flying, so I was curious as to how I take a sleeping bag onto an airplane? I really don’t want to check any luggage. Thank you
We are a family of 3 going tent camping with friends in the mountains. Last time we went camping I felt like we carried everything in the house out in the woods and then had to bring it all back again. The camping part is fun but packing up camp and going home and unpacking it again just feels like work! This year each of us has a backpack and a sleeping bag to carry camping but there’s still more stuff. 3 pillows, cookware, 2 coolers (one with drinks and the other with food) 2 air mattress’s, tent a bag full of restroom stuff like tissue paper and teeth brushes and what not. Then there’s a Rubbermaid tube full of food like chips and loaf bread dry foods and stuff. We can probably eliminate some of this but non of us want to!
I’m going to California in a couple of weeks, and i have to take a sleeping bag. should i check it or take it as a carry on?
I am from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan…so shopping is limited and we don’t have any of the BIG stores really. I’m wondering what stores carry The North Face brand jackets….anyone know?
After arriving home from work with foreign holiday brochures, Peter is in the mood for a change of holiday this year but sadly for him wife Harriet is busy getting the camping gear ready and generally not listening to what the husband is saying and doing her mad laugh

Come to think about it, rock climbing involves either of two things: you could be going up or will come down and therefore, if you are not someone with a good head for heights; then this may not be the sport for you to try. Furthermore, you also need to ensure that you take along with you the proper climbing gear and have also been trained in how to use the rock climbing gear as well are conversant with the proper techniques of rock climbing.
To be sure, climbing gear is available in any department store though for more variety you may need to visit specialty stores where you could buy big brand name products such as from Nike, Petzl, Merrel and Black Diamond.
Good Pair Of Shoes/Boots
To get the most out of your climbing efforts, you need to have certain items of climbing gear on hand that will help you climb as well as descend safely. To start off, you need a good pair of shoes/boots without which you won’t be able to do any worthwhile climbing since it is necessary that you get a solid and firm foothold on the surface of the rock to ascend as well as descend, and in addition, the shoes/boots should fit snugly and they should also never be uncomfortable.
Secondly, going rock climbing without a harness would be tempting fate and this is another climbing gear item that you should have with you whenever you try to climb rocks. In fact, these harnesses are also especially designed for individual use by children, women as well as by men and they can even be made to suit different types of body sizes and shapes.
Other than when indulging in free climbing, you would also need another item of climbing gear which is ropes of which there are two types to choose from. First, you can use single ropes and secondly, there are double ropes though you need to be sure that the ropes that you buy are strong enough to bear your weight and in addition, it is always a good idea to have a bit more length of rope than is absolutely required.
Another essential item of climbing gear that you should ensure having is a helmet which can protect your head from becoming bruised or bumped and they will certainly provide useful protection to your head in case of a fall. In addition, you need to include a bag that can hold all of your climbing gear whenever you are out on your rock climbing trip and in fact, you need to look for those bags that have plenty of pockets in which to hold minor items of climbing gear and they should also be waterproof as well.
Finally, you also need to include belay devices and camming devices and you also need karabiners as too climbing holds as well as nuts that can be used in tiny spaces and which can come in very handy, especially in case the camming devices fail to work.
