When you go camping there are definite provisions that you need to take with you. The more evident things that we know to bring are the tents, sleeping bags, first aid kits, bug spray, and a mixture of food and drinks. The one thing that we never consider to be really critical to take with us is the proper clothes. We automatically assume that the items we should wear are shorts, short sleeved shirts, and a good pair of comfortable shoes. But when you are camping you are surrounding yourself by wildlife that is not incessantly favorable when you get too close. You should go hiking up on trails or just haphazardly around the forest. When you do this you may run into all sorts of small bugs that have the ability to attach to you, snakes, spiders, and many things. The easiest way that you are able to protect yourself from these bugs is to put on clothes that are going to protect you from them and protect your skin. When you don shorts and flip flops you are displaying so much skin and just asking for the bugs to bind themselves to you. The greatest kinds of camping clothes that you are able to put on are the ones that will screen your skin and grant you an extra layer of protection that may help save your life. When you are hiking put on long sleeved shirts, long pants, socks, and thick boots. The long pants and boots are a must – but at times you can get away with putting on a short sleeved shirt so that you will not faint from the heat. The thick boots are specially helpful in case you walk across a wandering snake that will try to bite you.

All you need to have a successful back yard camp out are a few kids, some tents, an open pit for roasting marshmallows, junk food, a little imagination and a few supervising adults! Not to mention, a back yard.

I started planning summer camp outs when one year, I decided I didn’t want a house full of kids over for my son’s birthday. I wasn’t in the mood to clean up that mess.   So, I borrowed a few tents from the neighbors, told all his buddies to bring warm pajamas and their sleeping bags, and to be prepared for an all-nighter!

From the moment the kids arrived, they were excited! The children ran amuck, playing all forms of tag, screaming, yelling and laughing it up.

Around nine o’clock we settled them down with some roasted marshmallows, and a ghost story. . . . scarey-y-y-y-y-y.

The next morning, everyone awoke to donuts, juice, and a water fight, before heading home.

The party was simple and yet, the kids couldn’t stop talking about it.   When summer rolled around again, the kids asked if we were going to have another camp out.   Before we knew it, our one event became a summer ritual.

So how does one plan a camp out in the big city?

Whether or not you are an seasoned camp cook or a novice you’re always on the watch for easy camp meals. You may perhaps have your old standbys that you take every trip that could use some livening up or just want something distinct for this year’s camping trip. If it’s your very first time as camp cook you almost certainly want some extra aid and ideas on how you can set up your kitchen and what you would like to take along. Either way, The Ultimate Campfire Kitchen and Camping Guide is going to be your new very best friend. I started out being the camp cook by default. I was the least knowledgeable camper and had no gear other than a sleeping bag. Everyone pitched in and lent me gear on the condition that I do the cooking. Sounded like a plan to me! I love to cook and feed people and try out new recipes. There was only one catch, I had by no means cooked “in the wild” over a portable propane stove. How tough could it be?I found out it actually wasn’t that hard, nonetheless it did take practice and preparing, especially planning. That was one of the biggest hints I uncovered for making camp cooking simpler for me; planning the meals ahead of time, home prep, packaging foods together as a meal are a few of the tricks and points I worked out for myself to make the meals fun and tasty rather than eating overcooked or not cooked enough whatever in the dark when you’re long past caring what it even tastes like simply because you’re so hungry and grumpy. One of the books I utilised to teach myself how you can make things less complicated was The Ultimate Campfire Kitchen and Camping Guide. Not only does it have wonderful recipes, but it also has chapters on the way to pack for your trip; what you would like for your kitchen, the way to do prep at home to make food prep easier, suggestions on approaches to package your food. It is chock full of fantastic recipes for beginning camp cooks as well as knowledgeable ones wanting to add something new to their next trip like:

Want to find the perfect spot for setting up camp?  Here are a few great ideas to help you find a good spot to set up your camping tents.

You want to start off by finding level ground.   No one wants to sleep on an uneven surface!  It’s always a good idea to find this flat spot relatively high up and not too close to trees.   The tree roots would not be a good place to lie on.   Make sure there are no large stones either.

It’s a good idea to make sure the area you pick does not show signs of any water erosion.   The last thing you want is to have a flash flood during a large rainstorm come rushing through your tent at night.

One of the most important things to do when picking out a camping site is to look up above you and make sure you see a lot of blue sky!  The last thing you want is to wake up in the middle of the night with a downed tree or even large tree limbs crashing through your tent.  Believe me I know!  The first time I went camping with my family we set up camp underneath a tree and during the night there was a bit of a wind storm which knocked down some branches.   Thank goodness the branches were not huge.   This could have been a real problem.

So please follow all of these steps and ensure yourself a great time in the outdoors!
