I plan a taking a spring camping trip in colorado. I will be using my dads 4 wd extended cab S10 with a cap on it. I planned on doing dispersed camping and sleeping in the back of the truck in lieu of using a tent. My gear and food will be in the back with me while sleeping. The cap locks and the windows are tinted so bears would not be able to see in. My question is should I be concerned about a bear attempting to break in the back of the truck while I am sleeping to get at my food ? I will be camping at about 7000-8000 ft. Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks.
i just got a small black bear hamster. her name is sushi. i made her a habitat out of a 10 gallon aquarium, i put wood shavings as a bedding (not cedar or pine i heard it hurts their respiratory system). she has a nice water bottle, nd a cute little food dish, some soft wood chew toys, nd the cutest little hut ever. i put her wheel in one corner of the tank nd the hut in the other, the food bowl in the middle nd the water bottle off to the side. heres the thing, she only sleeps in the corner behind her wheel. she refuses to go into her hut. =( ive tried showing her where it is and wut it is, but she wants no part in it. it makes me sad tht she wnt go into her little hut. nd y only behind her wheel? im thinking maybe shes not used to her surroundings yet. i wanna know other’s opinions on this as well though. k thanx =)
I know that they are Syrians, and I also know that Teddy Bear hamsters (aka Long-Haired Syrians) are supposedly the nicest hamsters. I don’t really want to know about any other breed. Like what are your experiences with them, what have you heard about them, etc.
I also know how to take care of hamsters, I’m not a newbie so I don’t need to hear “hamsters need a wheel and your bedding can’t be pine or cedar”, haha. I’ve had them most of my life, just never Black Bear hamsters.
And what I mean by ‘nice’ is if they are less prone to biting and more sweet. Thanks!

There’s plenty of survival kits out there but we’ve never seen ones so well equipped as these two. These kits are built for hostile environments. Stick the Ultimate Kit in your backpack and hope you never have to use it! If you do, it has everything you need to survive in even the toughest spots. Alternatively, if you aren’t in need in something so hardcore but still lifesaving in an emergency, there’s also the Basic Kit. The Basic Kit’s mantra is: Stay prepared. Stay alive! It’s a wild world out there…

Entry from: Denali National Park and Preserve, United States Entry Title: “Hike 1 – Entering the park and 1st bear encounter” Entry: “Summary Spent 11 days in Denali NP with 9 days of hiking. The park basically has a single road that runs through it from the entrace to Wonder Lake campground. Its basically a 5 hour drive including all the stops for viewing wildlife and driver breaks. Along this road the park is broken up into a number of different back coutry units for which you need to get a free permit (limited numbers per unit). Decided on visiting 3 different parts of the park Since there was less chance of getting lost trying to navigate between back country units especially if the weather turned bad and I couldnt see the mountains (dont really trust my navigation by compass skills without a bit of topology Vs landscape matching involvement). Besides which I got to see different parts of the park. Denali NP blog entry has been broken into the 3 areas of the park I visited in order to reduce entry size and split the photos up meaningfully. Note I have lots of panarama photos that were not posted since I wont be stitching them together until I get home. my hamster cage is new. It is a habitrail twist with the ovo adventure pack. Is that good for a black bear hamster? Also, I was wondering if I should get new shaving, I am using pine shavings right now. Thank you!
Grylls jumps from a boat a kilometre off the west coast of Ireland. He travels down the coast before turning inland to cross the bogs. Here he retrieves a sheep carcass from a bog whose skin he uses as a sleeping bag (sheeping bag), a waterproof sack, and a flotation device.
