My friends and I are going to be backpacking through East Canada, in july, but I am not exactly sure what to bring. Obviously clothes and stuff, but i want to keep my bags as light as possible. The suck-ish thing, is that we are mostly going to be camping, not staying in hotels, so now we have to bring camping gear. SO! What the neccessarities that i/we should bring on our trip.
Taking our gear for a practice hike in Ricketts Glen State Park in preparation for our upcoming extended hike in New Hampshire’s White Mountains . We did a test run with full load out around the Falls Trail on day one and a more leisurely exploration around Adams Falls on day two. We definitely confused some people by hiking this area with our extended trip packs, but it’s better to find out how you can improve your system here than it is when you’re out in the woods on an extended stay (for two of us, this is will be our first backpacking experience). We did “cheat” and eat campfire hotdogs for dinner though, couldn’t resist! Oh, yeah and there was a lovely Severe Heat Warning this weekend, so this ended up being good worst case scenario practice as far as heat and hydration goes too.
