I am a pretty good hiker and have done many hikes and camping trips in the wilderness in all seasons in the United States. I was planing to to a solo hiking trip for a few days in the French Alps. Anyone suggest any good gear besides from the basic winter camping gear? Any other suggestions would be nice too

Barmasse’s Matterhorn ascent is the first of the trilogy of climbs within The North Face® expedition, Exploring The Alps. The project comprises three new routes, up three of the highest mountains in the Alps, in three different ascent styles, with the aim to push the limits of mountaineering in the Alps where alpinism was born. Traveling the GR 5 from Les Houches to Briancon. Can I tent camp the entire way. I believe I have seen that you can camp anywhere above tree line.
This is a Alps Mountaineering Mystique tent. This is the first time setting this tent up and I was vary impressed with how fast it went up, total weight when I repacked it was 4lb 6oz not to bad for two people and a ground tarp.
