What temp is your nursery? What tog is your sleeping bag? And what do you dress your baby in?
My baby wears a singlet and pj set with a top and pants. His nursery usually sits at the recommended 16-17degrees C for a 2.5tog bag.
What do other babies wear to bed?
My little ones room is probably around the same warmth as yours and gets colder around 3am.
He is wearing …
wool long sleeve singlet (warm & breatheable – not stuffy at all)
stretchie (one suit)
2.5 tog bag
2 blankets
General rule of thumb is that babies should have one more layer than you.
Also another thing you can do is to check their temperature on their belly or put a finger down the back of their neck. Dont touch their fingers or feet as this changes from baby to baby – the real temperature test is to check their body area. Make sure they are warm enough.
hi
i have twins and at the moment with the hot weather i just put them in there vest and then in there tog bag which is a 1.0 tog for the summer in winter they have a 2.5 tog and wear pjs. mothercare have got a sale on at the mo there only £19.00. i also have an egg temp for the room which helps.

I try to keep it as light as possible Maybe a singlet or a light bedsuit. The idea is I dont want to wake her up while trying to change the diaper. Apart from that, with the heater and the blanket and the sleep suit, I cant risk an additional layer of clothing to overheat her.

Sleeping bag, well I have never used one, incase they slide inside, unless it is one of those with the arm holes. Which in that case it would be safe.
If the room is warm, a PJ set is all your baby should need. I only added a thicker type babygrow over them in the winter, in the summer I left them in their vest, as they would get to hot.

When it was very cold in winter, he’d have a bodysuit, a sleepsuit and a 2.5 tog sleeping bag. His room was usually 16 degrees during the night.
Now as it’s summer, his room is regularly up to 25 degrees during the night.. and that is with the window open! He sleeps in either a body suit and thin sleeping bag (equivalent of one thin sheet) or a body suit and pyjama bottoms (no sleeping bag).

I’ve got a little boy who’ll be 1 in 9 days time
His nursery temp would probably be between 10-15C depending on the outside temp and time of night (early mornings are colder)
he wears a 1.5 tog sleeping bag and has a bodysuit style singlet, socks and flannelette pj’s on inside it. Then he has a flannelette sheet and blanket over him as well, which usually get kicked aside during the night
He is always toasty warm inside the bag but his face &hands do seem cold some mornings, but then so are mine when i wake up too. We don’t have central heating but he doesn’t get cold inside his bag.
His 1.5 tog bag’s recommended temp is 20-24C or something like that so he should probably be in a 2-2.5 tog bag but his 1.5 is fine.
