Maybe this is a stupid question, but do I have to buy the same brand and type of sleeping bag with the zip on the other side in order to zip it together with my boyfriend’s when we go to Glastonbury festival? Or would any two sleeping bags zip together?
Sort of, kind of, yes
For two sleeping bags to be able to zip together they require:
The same type of zipper
zippers come in two basic types:
toothed zippers which everybody is familiar with and coil zippers which resemble the spirals on spiral bound note books
In addition the Zippers must be of the same size
i.e # 10 coil or # 8 coil , must be made of the same material and should be of the same length
If you are using mummy bags or any bag where the zipper doesn’t go down and around the foot then you need a left and right hand bag.
Another solution is to spread one bag out lay the other bag on top of it , zip the sides up and some how figure out the box foot details. The advantage is that you have a zipper on each side of you and heat adjustment is actually easier.

Question about sleeping bags – do babies sleep better if their feet are being held together or lose?
Or is it just a question of age?
It’s a question of age, mostly, although some young babies like to have their legs loose, too. My first daughter liked to be swaddled for the first several months, but my second went straight to a sleep sack after about a month. I still have my older one in sleep sacks at two years old! I like them because they stay put, unlike blankets, which kids can easily kick off. I also don’t like the idea of blankets in the crib, but I’m just anal like that.
