I’ve never been camping before (and never really thought I would go) but now my parents are very seriously considering it, and we’ll probably go on the Fourth of July with another family. They want to go camping on Dixon Lake. However, I’ve certifiably scared. I live in California and I’m terrified of getting tics. Do tics in California (Southern Cali) carry Lyme Disease? And are tics common here? My little sister has a friend whose brother was bit by a tic and got Lyme Disease and he was paralyzed! I’m SO scared now because of that. Also, I heard bears, wolves, and other animals are attracted to the scent of blood: I just had my first period a while ago, and I’m 13, so they’re really irregular. What if I have my period when I go camping? I heard that I should take a Ziploc bag and put fresh pads/tampons in it, and keep another bag for used ones. I also heard to wrap up used ones in tin foil. Then put both bags, fresh and used, in one big gallon Ziploc baggie. I also heard to put coffee grounds in it to kill the smell. Will this work? I’m so scared to lead dangerous animals to my campsite!!! Also, is tampons the way to go here? I’m not sure…please help! Also, what about other bugs/dangers? How should I avoid those? How can I enjoy camping and stay safe and happy throughout the trip? We’re going to be sleeping there for two nights. I’m also very scared of creating a forest fire from creating a fire for cooking and things. I know I sound like some crazy person, but, hey, it’s my first time! Helpppppp!

P.S. Is roasting marshmallows easy?

Thnx =)

We’re wanting to go out camping tonight, but the temperatures are supposed to drop down to abut 27F just before sunrise (it’s about 52F now at 4pm). Our sleeping bags are only rated for 40F, but could we add some extra blankets and keep the fire with some hot coals and sleep comfortably?

goin back 2 the corner, where i 1st saw u gonna camp n my sleeping bag i’m not gonna move….

about a couple of weeks ago i noticed some strange bumps on the back of both of my knees that looked like oversized mosquitoe bites when i woke up in the morning. i was wearing aeropostale sweat pants and the were rolled up to the back of my knees. they were itchy but were the same color as my skin. last friday i got some more on my side after i wore a shirt that i had worn for the first time and then on saturday night i was camping and i slept in my sleeping bag and got some more on my back, wrist, and below my chin. anybody have any ideas what this could be???
my mom hasn’t changed the laundry detergent and I’ve been using the same soap, nothing has changed they just randomly show up and idk what they’re from

I was watching Comedy Central a few weeks back and there was this hilarious stand up comedian (guy) who was talking about camping, and how a sleeping bag is the perfect thing for a serial killer. ANyone know who this is? THANKS.

In a few weeks, me and my friends want to camp outside in my field, with alcohol :D
But my mom said i could, only in the summer. And shes saying it’ll be too cold :/
I live in cornwall, England and we have only had a bit of snow so its not that cold, and atm its 4degrees.
There will be about 10 of us, and we will be walking around, in the tent with looooads of sleeping bags and all and on the trampoline :)
Is it a good idea?

Some mates and me were wondering whether it it is legal to camp for one night on these Nature Reserves. We live backing onto mt taylor and want to go up there with just some blankets and sleeping bags (no fire or booze) and sleep under the stars

Is it legal/possible?

I am a tourist but I hate touristy crap. What I do like is mountains, wild landscapes and beaches.

Is it economical to travel by train and camp?
Any ideas on where to go? (intresting history good/standing in queues bad)
Good campsites (by good I mean cheap or even free)

I am 35 and single and dislike the stag night piss up scene.(but am still partial to a pint)

I thought I would be a bit old fashioned and just go there for week in early September and find out for myself, but the sensible devil on my back is trying to encourage me to plan..

Any ideas gratefully received

I am babysitting and the kids need help with there homework but I can’t speak one work of it!

Three friends went on three different vactions first they went camping in the forest they brought sleeping bags, first aidkit, a lantirn, and a tent to sleep in. They went on a hike in the woods in the afternoon and went for a swim in the water. The day was nice and sunny with no clouds. When it was dark the cooked dinner and then went to bed in their sleeping bags and tents
