Me and my boyfriend have just bought some camping equipment and a tent.. It was the third we had bought due to the last 2 both being faulty.. I advise nobody to go with ‘Hi-gear’ tents they are poor quality!.. I am wondering is ‘vango’ tents any good? we have just bought one and fingers crossed this one is fine! where are good cheap places to camp in England? I.e – the lake district? North/South Wales.. Anywhere else?.. We have bought all the stuff we assume we need.. Any tips or things we may need that you don’t usually think about? Any advice would be good.. Thank you
I’m 17 years old(turning 18 in October) which means Aerosmith has been around for over double my age now(35 years since their Self-Titled Debut was released). Despite the age difference, I love Aerosmith, they are my favorite band. The “Bad Boys From Boston” are the Greatest American Rock Band ever, and are in the Top 5 or Top 10 Greatest Rock and Roll Bands Ever. No doubt, The Beatles are the Greatest Rock Band of All-Time, but Aerosmith is my favorite. I can’t wait until their new album comes out and they go on tour again. I’ve seen them twice at D.T.E.(Pine Knob) in Michigan(Once with Motley Crue and the other with Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. Great shows, you do not want to miss these guys. I could only wish they would co-headline with AC/DC. That would be the best concert of All-Time as far as I’m concerned. AC/DC is heavily rumored to embark on an 18-month World Tour beginning in October in support of their brand new album release(Black Ice), which is slated to be released on October 27, 2008. A single, titled “Runaway Train,” is slated to hit radio sometime in August, probably toward the end of the month. Both bands released their first album back in 1973(35 years ago), and what better way to set rock ‘n’ roll history, than to 35 years later, co-headline the best World Tour ever in music history? The world would be Thunderstruck if that took place. Another awesome World Tour would be Motley Crue and AC/DC together!! Crue is currently on their “Crue Fest” tour which ends August 31, 2008. That would not be too far fetched, but the Crue has announced that there are no definitive plans to tour Europe, however, they have also hinted there is the likelihood that there will be some form of tour in Europe. If Crue and AC/DC embarked on a World Tour together, they should name the tour, “THUNDERSTRUCK ON THE WILD SIDE.” If Aerosmith and AC/DC embarked on a World Tour together, they should name the Tour, “IT’S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP ON THE OTHER SIDE” My Favorite Aerosmith song: The Other Side; AC/DC song: You Shook Me All Night Long; Motley Crue song: Wild Side. This is just my opinion, let me know what you think about all of this. If you’d like to see these three bands all do a World Tour together or what or just whatever is on your mind.
I’m looking for another car & I’d love input. Here is what I’m looking for in a car; am eager to hear what you recommend & why.
Open re: body style–wagon, van, smaller SUVs, sedan, truck, etc. No disgustingly huge SUVs, please. Doesn’t have to be new–models up to 10-12 years old may be recommended; prefer years 2002 to 2007.
MPG–must get NO LESS THAN 20 city and 25 highway, the more the better (engine can be gas, diesel, hybrid–all ok)
Must be fun to drive & handle well, esp. in winter up north
Prefer 4 x 4 or AWD
Must be well made, reliable, and safe; prefer comfy ride, roomy interior
Needs to carry UP TO 4-5 adults & 2 Lab sized dogs comfortably–or fewer adults but good for hauling camping gear & kayak, getting kids back to college, etc. I put on 20,000 + mi./yr –this includes a 150 highway miles/week commute to work .
Needs to tow 16 ‘ sailboat; rear wheels need to go into the water to a depth up to 10″
Am grateful for input, thanks!
Is going camping pretty much like going to the beach were you do not need to pay a fee, only pay for a spot for your car?
I’ve gone camping once when I was 13 with my parents.
Now im 19 and want to go camping on my own.
Would I need to pay just to go in? Im not taking a bike nor a car, just taking a ride on a public bus and get dropped off at or near the park. Only taking my gear and back pack.
Also would I need to take an ID? I really dont take it anywhere except only when I go to the Movies.
I know I asked a question similar to this a while ago, but I ask again because is really important. I live in “Orange County, CA” by the way.
What’s the color without pine tar on the helmets? Navy blue? Black? It’s driving me insane!!
I’m looking for a sporty car or small SUV or hatchback that I can carry a variety of painting sizes in, that I can hitch a small sailboat and trailer to (about 1000 lbs load total), and has some fun element to it. Fun, as in a convertible top, or sporty lines with good acceleration. I drive to the lake on weekends and take my dog and wife too sometimes to go sailing, so a two seater is out. I hitch up the sailboat and then back it down to a lake, so I don’t usually drive far with the boat. I will use the car for daily commute. I also go camping and need enough room for a 45 lb canvas tent and gear. The inside needs to be able to hold up to the muddiness that comes with putting a sailboat in and out of the water. Seats should be able to handle rough use of a 50 lb dog. I’m 6′-3″ tall and need lots of leg room and head room.
Good gas mileage and reliabilty would be good. I do my paintings from nature, so I may travel a few hours into Arkansas mountains and camp and paint. My paintings probably won’t exceed 3′ long. Here’s the list I’m considering:
1. VW GTI (It looks like a Golf/Rabbit, but has lot more speed) hatchack, tons of headroom, legroom, good storage, good MPG, fairly reliable
2. Honda Element- I could even sleep in it, super reliable, not sure about acceleration, haven’t driven one yet.
3. Subaru Forester- Great all around, dependable, but doesn’t seem very sporty or fun compared to some others. Average acceleration.
4. VW Beetle convertible, or hatchback, fun car, great head room, small storage, average to poor reliability.
5. Toyota Highlander- very reliable, spacious, good for towing, not particularly sporty though, average MPG.
6. BMW Z3 and other roadsters- very sporty, but no back seat, no can do.
7. VW Jetta TDI wagon- No thrills, but amazing gas mileage, good storage.
8. Saab 9-3 convertible- sporty, but not much storage room for tent.
9. Scion Xb- good storage, not very outdoorsy, more of an urban car.
10. Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV 4, my wife has a CR-V already….. but she doesn’t want me taking it to the lake and getting it full of sand and mud. Would like something sportier or more fun.
Any suggestions? Happy New Year!
I’m going on holiday for a long weekends kayak and camp up the River Dart this weekend.
One thing I’m worried about is our gear getting soaked from (and I’m praying it won’t happen) a capsize. Now obviously anything can happen, so I want to be prepared in case it does.
We’ll have a couple of tents, hiking rucksacks and food, which I’ll be towing in a spare kayak behind me.
I’d prefer it if there was an actual waterproof product specifically designed for such an event rather than trying to use bin-liners or carrier bags.
What do you do when you go kayaking and camping?
Anything you can suggest?
Thanks, as always,
Pan
For some reason during completely random parts of the day I get a little dizzy and then my eyesight goes blank for 10 seconds and slowly comes back. It doesn’t matter where I am, what temperture it is, or the amount of stress I’m under. And I breathe normally, so I don’t think it has anything to do with my air intake.
Most of the time I’ll just be walking and suddenly I feel unsteady and my vision starts to go. Most of the time I’ll just keep walking forward knowing that it will wear off, but a few times it will happen and I’ll lose my vision, regain it, and suddenly be at the other side of the room knocking over something in the process without knowing how, when, or why I got there (for all you harry potter fans, I think I I may be possesed… haha)
If I need to include any more details, just ask. But I want to know what’s wrong because, to be frank, it sucks pine sap and it happens nearly every day.
Thanks ya’ll!
Okay, so I’ll try the iron thing, but I’m pretty sure I’m good on that since I eat a lot of red lean meats and green veggies.
And I’m 5′9, but it doesn’t just happen when i’m standing up. Haha, omg, it just happened again while I was lying down. The universe proves my point ![]()

A buddy and I have planned a camping trip in southern Utah for the dates of 10/16 – 10/18.
We are wanting to get the “real camping experience,” ergo we will be packing light, staying at a place without running water, showers, etc.
Neither of us are experienced campers. Can anyone offer suggestions for the following:
1) The average low temp there at that time of year is 46 degrees. What kind of gear and clothes should we bring to address the temperature?
2) Is there a list of things we should bring?
3) Is there any advice you can give about camping in that area? We plan on doing plenty of hiking, etc.
Thanks!
