I plan a taking a spring camping trip in colorado. I will be using my dads 4 wd extended cab S10 with a cap on it. I planned on doing dispersed camping and sleeping in the back of the truck in lieu of using a tent. My gear and food will be in the back with me while sleeping. The cap locks and the windows are tinted so bears would not be able to see in. My question is should I be concerned about a bear attempting to break in the back of the truck while I am sleeping to get at my food ? I will be camping at about 7000-8000 ft. Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks.
A buddy and I have a crazy Idea to go winter camping on my Uncle’s farm NNE of Sundre in late February. My Uncle is an outfitter, so we can have all the gear we need. The problem is, that they’ve got a problem with voracious man-eating animals. That bear that ate that guy a few months ago by Sundre? Was caught on his farm. He’s shot 3 wolves that were stalking his cattle in the past 5 years. He’s spotted cougars (which scare the everliving crap out out of me) a few times, and there’s been coyotes in their yard a few times this fall.
We are taking turns keeping watch, we’ll have a fire going, an airhorn at the ready, and our paintball guns loaded and gassed up at all times. Is their anything we’ve overlooked? Any other suggestions? We might be borrowing my uncle’s coonhounds that he has specifically trained to tree cougars for his job, so that would have all our bases covered. (We hope)
Thankfully we don’t have to worry about bear, they’d be hibernating.
As for our paintball guns, a few well placed shot would discourage an attacker.
And if I tied the dogs up regardless of whether or not we were attacked my uncle would kill us.
Lastly, we are both experienced campers. We know not to leave food anywhere.
We decided to make a jerry-rigged bear fence, and hook it up to my uncles main one. Thanks for the ideas, it’s not till February so its still a long ways off.
Riding through the dried woods of the Black Hills on a noble mount is an everlasting experience. A red-brown mare steadily making her way through the brush. Fresh pine needles, pinecones, maple leaves sporting autumn shades, and dried grass litter the dirt path. The rhythmic walking of the riding mount mixing with the gently cool breeze flowing through the trees. Twittering birds rush to and fro across the sky searching for sunflower seeds. Blue clouds heavy with precipitation gradually grow darker as they reach across the horizon. Evergreens mix with taller maple trees forming a barrier of safety. Squirrels leaping from tree to tree, collecting food for the winter to come. The entrancing smell of the sap mingles with decaying wood, fresh manure, and the promise of rain. The thick aroma of tree sap lifts into the air covering all it touches. The entrancing smell of the sap mingles with decaying wood, fresh manure, and the promise of rain. The silence is as enjoyable as a good book that you just can’t put down. Slowly the air becomes denser as the clouds prepare to release their burden. The sun hides its face as the dark clouds take over the sky. A cool breeze streams through the branches of the surrounding trees. A soft trickle of rain falls from the dense mass of clouds looming above. The birds dart for the cover of their nest, and squirrels find shelter in the trunks of the great maple trees. The rain falls harder and faster. The wet drops slide over the bare skin of the rider, creating a truly refreshing feeling. The pitter-patter of the rain echoes through the trees. The dried woods drink up every last drop the sky offered, and begged for more. Slowly the rain ceased to fall and the clouds floated away, revealing the brilliant sunrays once again.
I will be camping shortly with 10 adults and 8 kids (5 families in all). Several of the families would like to cook on their own instead of with the group meals we have done in the past. The two new families to the group this year are the ones who don’t want to eat with the group. This has caused a lot of animosity. Is it normally better to do the meals as a group if we are all camping together? We have decided to just have each family bring and cook their own food. Is it right to tell them to bring their own cooking gear as well since we are not sharing?
Me and my GF are wanting to go camping in CA early this November. Looking for somewhere with beautiful forest scenery and wildlife. Nothing too cold, as we dont want to have to buy expensive winter gear (we live in Austin, TX, so it wouldnt get much use.)
We want to fly in, get a hotel, visit a city with booming nightlife, then head out to camp the next couple of days. So somewhere reasonably close to a metropolitan area is ideal.
The best Ive found so far is Big Sur. Any other suggestions?

Someone gave me a flower basket and there are a few tall stalks in it but they arent bloomed…at least I dont think so..they have a bunch of finger like leaves that point up the stalk and at the very top there is a fat bud like thing ..its all layered like a little pine cone and there is a little black thing in each little layered piece…I am so sorry about this description but does anyone have a clue!? Also Im curious if they havent bloomed yet how can I keep them alive so they do..I just have them in water now…thanks

Can somebody please tell me the name of the song and artist to the track that plays in the Top Gear US Special at these following times..(it is the same song for each time)…
31.28 – 31.53 (Cow on Jeremy’s roof)
32.38 – 32.43 (Camping)
49.18 – 49.41 (James offering Jeremy and Richard a lift to the airport)
I have also heard it played in an episode of LA Ink (the episode where Kat’s shop is finally finished and she gives the guy a pin up tattoo on his arm to thank him).
I am going on a hiking trip to Boulder, CO and I will be taking a Greyhound from NC to Denver. I will be bringing my camping equipment which includes a large fixed blade knife and a flint to make fires and other gear that may be considered a weapon. I was wondering if they will search my hiking bag and not allow me on the bus with these items. Thank you for any help in this matter.
I need examples of stereotypes of African Americans in television for my project. Movies are good too, but I need an example like the Pine-Sol Lady and Aunt Jemima. Or two characters whose jobs are the same but one is white and the other is black, so I can put down the differences of traits between these two characters.
