me and my son and his 3 friends are going camping in the lake district and he loves army stuff so any game ideas? and does anyone know where i can buy a camouflage or army tent or sleeping bag etc?

you could go to the army surplus store, they should have stuff like that, (thanks to the guy above) CTF is a good game for 6 years olds since you probably don’t want to let them play with airsoft guns.

Surplus stores will sell authentic military MREs. Probably not right now, though since all the surplus MREs are going to Texas and the south as hurricane supplies. You can get less authentic look-a-likes sold as civilian MREs. It would a treat for the kids to eat what real soldiers in Iraq (and other places) eat every day. Each MRE is a fully self-contained meal, all you need is water. It is nutritious, balanced, healthy, a soldier on the battlefield must be able to survive on MREs every day for a month, so there’s no doubt it would contain all the food groups in the correct portions and such. Military MREs average between 1200 and 1800 calories per packet, you shouldn’t feed the kids MREs more than once a day. They don’t need that much food. MREs are like canned food. don’t smash them and store in a cool place between 75 and 40 degrees F. Shelf life is 5 years at 70 deg F. older MREs may have discoloration (which doesn’t mean its bad, just looks inedible), so looks for ones that are made recently. Date of manufacture or expiration is printed on the outside. Don’t forget to bring a knife or scissor to open them, though.

Military surplus stores online and offline can sell other stuff too, like the classic-style military camo and the new pattern of camo (pixel-ated style) clothing, tents, canteens, etc.

Mil surp stores are great places to go to get old ammo cans- waterproof and durable steel boxes for storage. I also go to local ones for MREs when they have them. I only buy military MREs because I found the civilian version to be lacking in value.

For games, dress them up in camo and let them play hide and seek or capture the flag.
