From the last hammock video, got some new gear, mainly a mummy sleeping bag and a space blanket to try out.
This video is mainly for newbies who are starting to get into winter camping or into hammock camping and are looking at ideas or learning
from my mistakes 
Bad editing in this video, however some things to learn…
1. Getting into a hammock via a mummy sleeping bag is hard. But gets easier.
2. Space blanket didn’t work out as expected.
3. I skipped the liner, since I had enough issues trying to get in the hammock.
I didn’t use the tarp, and the conditions were -3C with light winds. I felt the cold around my shoulders and waist area. The space blanket didn’t work as I thought it would. I might resort back to using the therma rest to insulate myself from the bottom.

What a bunch of pussies. I use a 59 cent tarp cut into two peices, suspend it from two parked semi trucks. one to lay on one to cover up the makeshift sleeping bag. For the make shift sleeping bag I line the tarp with straw/hay, then cover the hay with dark green salvation army blanket that itches and scratches terribly. Then I use a an old strip of RV insulation for my blanket that makes me break out in Welts and hives. Thats how you hammock and camp like a man. Non of this fancy stuff:X

When I go, I use the military two piece canvas tent, line it with a tarp and use a wool blanket, Its cheap, Its effective. I use the halves of tent as a hammock. They are strong enough with some paracord. Just tryin to save you guys some money

Wool blankets are supposed to be super warm I am thinking a couple of them and you don’t have to buy the expensive and bulky sleeping bag… plus a wool blanket can be worn as a poncho during hiking.

Try this poke a small hole in the base of the sleeping bag and pull the bottom of the hammock through. This way the hammock and the mummy are working in tandum. Hop into the hammock then slide the mummy over you like a snake skin. Did this with my daughters hammock and a regular sleeping bag it worked well for her. Would this also allow moisture a place to exit?

This is my preferred way for the cold. i’ve been doing it this way for years. As i use an air mattress, i limit condensation by placing the blanket under the air mattress. and obviously you can fold the other half over your bag, if needed.

Yeah, placing the space blanket underneath the hammock is the best choice. Only problem is, I recently experienced a tremendous amount of condensation for some strange reason. The hammock got and the blanket got wet and I eventually wound up freezing me ares of because of it. Don’t know why, but everything was drenched with condensation and then froze like ice and it was only 28 out. Bad news for my down bag. First time this has happened.
