I hate camping and”sleeping” on a tent or even worse without tent, I did once and it was so cold I end up with ice in my hair. We were lucky we didn’t freeze to death.

Camping and filthy youth hostels, no no. When you deduct the cost of everything is cheaper to sleep in a good motel.

It’s the greatest. Find a fish filled creek, Pitch a tent, catch some fish cook and eat the freshest fish you’ll ever have get drunk around the campfire wake up in the morning around a burnt out fire wondering why is it we always bring a tent.

i was in the army and we did a lot of tent less camping. i was stationed in Alaska and we had to do it in the winter right on the snow. i made a promise to myself that i would never do something like that again. so far so good

Yes love it. Do a lot of river trips where you can basically carry everything you need to be comfortable. Take a few bike trips during the year and every now and then get caught out in the boonies and have nothing but the sleeping bag. Not as bad as people make out as long as you take a little time to prepare. The worst thing you have to worry about this day and time are people looking for trouble. I always check by the closest house to where I plan on camping out and let them know who I am and what I am doing and have never had any problems. Give it a try!!! Now is the time before the bugs get too bad.

yes, yes, yes and yes. found it really hard to go to sleep, it was a clear night sky and the stars just looked fantastic, could see the band of the galaxy, satellites flying by, really amazing.

This one time, in Florida, I tried the sleeping bag only method. I lasted about two hours before retreating back to the relative safety of my car.

This other time, in Maine, I floated down the Saco River in a canoe with some coworkers and we camped on the side of the river. That was fun. It had that “middle-of-nowhere” effect.

Best feeling in the world! Love it! Out at least once a month. One with nature and all those stars around you, can’t ask for a better feeling than this!

i love camping with or without a tent. without a tent i have seen things that i would not have seen with a tent. during a meteor shower i saw for the first time a meteor explode during entry. it was so cool. i have also seen more wildlife without a tent. but without a tent you have to be care full of insects crawling into your bag. a mummy bug solves that.

I was camping this morning… but that’s more of a “man problem”

I’m a geologist – every summer of my life I spend camping in the middle of nowhere, accessible only by bush plane or helicopter. It’s why I went into geology, and why I still stay in geology. A bad day in the field with rain, bugs, and bad GPS reception, is better than a good day in the office any day.

That said, I don’t really camping much except when I’m working… I kinda like to enjoy the comforts of civilization the other 8 months of the year.
