I’m looking to buy brand new camping equipment because I haven’t upgraded in about 10 years.
I am getting a new job that pays well and can afford more expensive gear.
What are some suggestions? backpacks, stoves, hiking shoes/boots, tents, etc.

I agree with the above poster, Trail space is really good on reviews.
Cabelas has a pretty good variety and you can read from reviewres that bought the item .,

I am a gear-hog too and always look at the newest items out there even though my gear still works fine. Look at the gear you have right now. Is it functional? Would you like something smaller, lighter in weight, more efficient or has something worn out? Are your pots for 2-3 people and you’d like a set that can serve 4-6? Do you have a summer tent and now would like to go out 3 seasons? Do you have walking shoes but want something with more tread?
The gear you buy today will probably be obsolete a few months from now. I’d probably spend money on going to great new spots to hike and camp rather than getting another stove.
An excellent reference book is Colin Fletcher’s Complete Walker IV. He discusses the differences between different tents, stoves etc. I do not like the gear guide issues of Backpacker magazine. It seems just to let you know what is the newest item out there. Often a discussion of stoves will "magically" have an ad from a stove manufacturer on the same page…
