Granddaughter Piper talks about the camping thing at a family campout. Distributed by Tubemogul.

I noticed that mylar is used in emergency sleeping bags. I also noticed that it is really light. Why isn’t mylar used in created commercial sleeping bags?
Mylar doesn’t stand up to laundering very well, so it’s not a good choice for sleeping bags that are meant for long-term use. It’s wonderful for situations where being small/light is important, but otherwise, not so much.
My Best friend Amanda’s dog drooled on my sleeping bag and there is a small pile of it on the side of the sleeping bag and it is really gross. I know I can wash the sleeping bag but are there any other ways. I AM SORRY THIS IS A GROSS QUESTION TO ASK BUT I JUST DON’T CARE FOR DOG DROOL.
Wash or dry clean.
I am 135 lbs and have trouble staying warm in my 25 degree mummy bag when backpacking in the Selway-Bitterroot wilderness. I am willing to put 300-400 dollars into a top of the line cold weather sleeping bag but was wondering if the us mil issue bag is any good for temps around 0- to -20 degrees.
(assuming that I have a good ground pad and tent already.)
Although everyone is telling you that the mil issued is too heavy, I have LOTS of experience with it, and trust me, it is the package you are looking for. It come in 3 layers, a gortex outer shell, a heavy black bag, and a lighter green one. put the green one in the black one, the black one in the gortex, and you will sleep like a baby. Something else you might consider is taking a pillow with you. This is all bulky but, the sleeping system comes with a convienant stuff sack that can drawn up tight to reduce size. As for as keeping warm, you just can’t beat it.

I want to get my boyfriend a camping tent for Christmas but I know very little about tents. I am currently looking at Alps Mountaineering, Coleman and Kelty. Which of these would you recommend? Are there any other tents that you would recommend? Which tents/ brands are the best deal? Is there anything else I should know about getting him a tent, i.e. I should also get a footprint?
Thanks
Go to a good outdoor store- EMS, REI, Campmor…those are the 3 that first come to mind. Go to the tent dept and talk to the employees there. They can help you find exactly what you need. Make a list of features/sizes and price range that you are looking for and I`m sure they can find something that fits your needs. Like are you car camping or backpacking? Do you want a vestibule? Do the types of poles -fiberglass and aluminum really matter to you? Dont be afraid to ask questions and explain to them what you want, thats their job, that is why they are there
i want to git some camping gear and start traveling the world but how do i eat baeth and is thar any thing els i need to know any tips i dont have any family to take care of i will only have whats on my back and i want to see the world
Just do it!
Just grab a tent, some other camping stuff and head out of the normal life!
I mean you can of course plan for years and years… or you can just book a plane somewhere and start hitch hikeing etc
That way you will get an adventure and not just a holiday! lifes for living, so thats a tip!!!
you can also go for working holiday visas and get a job while you travel. Money can be a problem if you are fussy with jobs, but if you do not mind working in farms etc then you will be grand!
good luck!
